Sourcing

We buy coffee from people, not from a price list.

Eleven farms and cooperatives in six countries. We buy whole lots before the harvest at a price agreed in advance, and we go back every year.

01

Agreed before the harvest

Producers know our price and our volume months before they pick, so they can plan and hire.

02

Well above the market

We pay on average twice the commodity price, and we publish what we paid on every lot.

03

The same farms every year

Most of our producers have sold to us for four years or more. Good coffee takes time on both sides.

Coffee reaches us three to five months after the harvest, so the shelf follows the calendar with a delay.

In the roastery

Every sack is opened by hand.

Green coffee keeps for about a year. We store it in jute and plastic liners at the back of the roastery and roast each lot within months of its arrival.
